What is a fanzine?
A fanzine is a collaborative project made up of fanworks that follow a theme. It is produced in a limited time frame and therefore has limited availability. It can be physical or digital, and sometimes are made alongside merchandise. The contents of a fanzine range from art to writing, music to cosplay, practically any form of fan creation!
What is this zine about?
This zine is all about the storytelling, characterization, and symbolism in the anime and manga: Dungeon Meshi! It is slightly different from the usual book format of zines, as it takes the form of tarot cards!
What is this zine's rating?
Privilege of the Living will be a SFW zine. There may be canon-typical violence and blood.
What is Tarot?
Tarot is a deck of 78 unique cards. Each one has its own meaning and imagery, rich with symbolism. There are two parts to the deck: Major Arcana and Minor Arcana! The Major Arcana is seen by many as the core of the deck, and is the part we will focus on in this zine.
How many cards will there be?
This zine will consist of the Major Arcana and four additional cards representing the Minor Arcana. This is to prevent the scope of the project from growing too large!
Will this zine contain spoilers for the manga?
Yes, this zine will contain manga spoilers! This zine will cover plot points and characters that appear in the manga but not yet in the anime.
Is there an age limit for moderators and contributors?
Privilege of the living will not be accepting moderators below the age of 18 or contributors below the age of 16.
How many contributors will there be?
This zine will be accepting 11-15 card artists, 3-5 merchandise artists, and 2-3 poets.
Is there a limit to how many roles can be applied to?
There is no limit to the amount of roles you can apply to, but you will only be accepted for one role!
Will this zine be for-profit or for-charity?
This zine is a for-charity project — our project will first use any profits to cover up to a free full bundle for each contributor; any profits remaining after that will be donated to a charity of our contributors’ choice, ideally pertaining to relief efforts or aid funds for Palestinians! 🍉
How will the contributors be compensated?
All contributors will be guaranteed a full digital bundle and the ability to purchase any physical items at production cost.Pending adequate sales during pre-orders, we hope to compensate for shipping or the cost of items entirely — we aim to cover a full bundle for each contributor.Profits not spent on item compensation will be donated to a charity of our contributors’ choice, as noted above. A full breakdown of compensation tiers will be available upon acceptance to the project.
